A recent report by Sonatype reveals that enterprise applications now exhibit 4.31 times more critical and high-severity vulnerabilities due to the rapid acceleration of AI-driven software development practices. The analysis of four years of development data indicated that application production has nearly quintupled in this AI era, while the time it takes to resolve vulnerabilities has decreased by 59%.
Despite organizations fixing vulnerabilities faster, the increase in software creation has outpaced remediation efforts, emphasizing the need for integrating security measures earlier in the development process. Key industry figures highlight that traditional security approaches can no longer keep up with the speed of AI-enhanced software development. The findings call for improved decision-making at the assembly stage of software to mitigate risks effectively.
