IN a recent data breach, hackers accessed the personal information of over three million Texans through a third-party vendor for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). The compromised data may include passport numbers, driver's license information, email addresses, phone numbers, and residential addresses. However, there are conflicting accounts regarding the exact details of the exposed data, particularly concerning Social Security numbers and financial information, which TPWD claims were not affected.
This breach marks another significant data exposure for Texas, following previous incidents involving millions of driver records. TPWD has offered affected individuals a year of free credit monitoring and advised them on security measures such as freezing their credit and being cautious of phishing scams.
