Fahmida Y Rashid Takes the Helm as Dark Reading’s Editor in Chief

CyberSIXT Evidence Panel Source marked as original reporting

FAHMIDA Y Rashid has been named Dark Reading’s editor-in-chief, with the official appointment announced on 12 October 2026. In her first public message as leader, she emphasised a continuation of the publication’s focus on deep technical coverage and on storytelling that resonates with security professionals responsible for defending their organisations.

Rashid reflected on her long association with Dark Reading, noting she began writing for the site in 2012 and has since worked closely with the current team to deliver analyses that cut through jargon and clarify complex security topics.

The editor-in-chief outlined a collaborative editorial vision for the next chapter. She will be supported by Tara Seals, Dark Reading’s managing editor of news, as her partner in guiding editorial strategy and operations. Promised priorities include maintaining rigorous reporting and expanding perspectives to address AI-driven attacks, geopolitical cyber activity, and evolving supply-chain risks.

The plan also emphasises the publication’s community focus—through initiatives like Dark Reading Global, podcasts, The Edge features, and events—and a push to innovate with new formats and content to serve security professionals and decision-makers in an ever-changing threat landscape. Rashid also thanked predecessor Kelly Jackson Higgins and encouraged readers to continue engaging with the site, signalling an open-door approach to feedback and accountability.
