The establishment of this office responds to identified weaknesses in the Coast Guard's cybersecurity strategy, which were highlighted in a Government Accountability Office report. Rear Adm. Robert C. Compher emphasized the need for the Coast Guard to adapt to ongoing technological advancements to mitigate emerging cybersecurity threats.
