MICROSOFT has released an unprecedented number of software updates this month, addressing nearly 200 security vulnerabilities across its Windows operating systems and software. Among these, approximately three dozen bugs received a critical rating and some have publicly available exploit code. The increase in patches has been attributed to the growing use of artificial intelligence tools by security professionals to identify vulnerabilities.
Key zero-days include CVE-2026-49160, affecting web servers, and others linked to exploits by the security researcher known as 'Nightmare Eclipse.' Microsoft is under scrutiny for its handling of vulnerability disclosures and has clarified it does not plan to pursue legal action against researchers. Additionally, other major companies like Adobe and Google have also released significant updates for their products this month. Users are advised to back up data before applying updates.
