CLOUDFLARE has announced the Registrar API is now in beta, enabling developers to search for domains, check availability, and register them programmatically as part of the registrar’s at-cost pricing model. The beta focuses on the core moments of the domain lifecycle and is designed to be machine-friendly, with three core actions: search, check, and register, which can be used inside editors, deployment pipelines, backend services, and agent-driven workflows.
The API is part of the full Cloudflare API and can be accessed today through the Cloudflare MCP, with Cursor and other MCP-compatible environments able to call Registrar endpoints using the same search and execute pattern. In practice, a typical flow involves an agent suggesting names, confirming registrable options and price, and then completing the purchase within seconds; the API also supports a 202 Accepted workflow URL if registration takes longer.
Premium domains, when supported, return the exact registry-set price in the check response and echo that as a fee acknowledgement during registration. Development of the broader registrar‑as‑a‑service offering is planned for later this year, with aims to cover transfers, renewals and more. 15 April 2026.
