CLOUDFLARE says VoidZero has expanded its JavaScript development toolchain with performance-focused releases and a unified product. Vitest 5, released in September, is reported to be up to 50% faster than Vitest 4, with shared transformed files, on-disk module caching and reduced data transfer between processes and workers.
It also introduces `vitest doctor` for analysing test performance, Trace View for replaying browser interactions and failures, conditional mocks with `vi.when`, more capable benchmarks and stricter handling of unawaited asynchronous assertions.
The company says tsgolint, the type-aware linting engine behind Oxlint, is now stable and runs 12 to 18 times faster than ESLint with typescript-eslint in large codebases. It supports 59 of typescript-eslint’s 61 type-aware rules, while Oxlint can share a TypeScript programme between linting and type-checking. VoidZero has also released Oxfmt, whose Rust-based formatters are described as seven times faster than Prettier while retaining compatible output.
Meanwhile, Vite’s experimental “Bundled Dev” mode uses the production bundler during development to improve performance in larger applications and reduce network overhead in remote sandboxes.
Vite+ is now at version 1.0, combining Vite 8, Vitest 5, Rolldown, Oxlint, Oxfmt and task caching. Cloudflare says it has committed a total of $2 million to open source, including a $1 million Vite ecosystem fund and a further $1 million commitment. Planned work includes parser improvements, a redesigned Rolldown chunking algorithm and a self-hostable version of Void.
