THE European Commission has unconditionally approved Google's $32 billion acquisition of Wiz under the EU Merger Regulation, according to the European Commission, with the decision announced on 10 February 2026. The ruling is based on extensive feedback from customers and rival cloud security and infrastructure vendors, and the Commission found no competition concerns in the European Economic Area, allowing the deal to proceed without remedies or conditions.
The Commission noted that there are several credible competitors that customers could switch to if Google bundles Wiz’s multi-cloud security platform with its existing products, or if Wiz’s platform became confined to Google clouds. It also concluded that Google would not obtain commercially sensitive data through the transaction that could not be accessible by other security software companies.
Google said Wiz will remain accessible across all major cloud platforms, though concerns remain about potential erosion of Wiz’s neutrality under Google Cloud ownership. according to The European Commission
