NEW research indicates that the anticipated surge in AI-related vulnerabilities may be manageable for enterprise security teams. A report by software supply chain security firm Echo revealed that while AI accelerates vulnerability discovery, enterprises can effectively handle this with strategic validation, risk prioritization, and rapid deployment of fixes. The study analyzed nearly 40,000 CVE life cycles and found a 145% increase in monthly CVE disclosures from 2024 to 2026, largely due to AI-assistance.
However, many discovered vulnerabilities are not as critical as initially thought, with less than 10% of AI-identified vulnerabilities being independently validated. Echo emphasizes that organization challenges often stem from their processes rather than sheer vulnerability volume, as many fixable issues remain unresolved due to lengthy remediation cycles.
To improve vulnerability management, experts advise focusing on infrastructure to speed up validation and remediation, while also reducing unnecessary software dependencies to minimize attack surfaces.
