THE FBI is asking gamers who installed malware-infected Steam games to come forward as part of an ongoing investigation, with the Seattle Division issuing a notice that identifies eight titles linked to the malware. According to the FBI’s Seattle Division notice, the threat actor is believed to have primarily targeted users between May 2024 and January 2026, with the affected games including BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse/DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova.
The bureau emphasises that responses are voluntary but may aid the federal investigation, and that victims’ identities will be kept confidential. Steam warned affected players to check for malicious files, run antivirus scans, review installed software, and consider reinstalling their operating systems.
The notice notes that PirateFi was released on Steam last week and was removed by Valve two days earlier, with players who played the game reportedly receiving emails, as reported by SecurityAffairs on 16 March 2026.
