SIGNATURE Healthcare in Brockton, Massachusetts diverted ambulances and cancelled some services after a cyberattack disrupted hospital operations, with pharmacies unable to fill prescriptions while urgent care and walk-in services remained open. The non-profit community teaching hospital, founded in 1896, has about 216 beds and serves more than 20 surrounding communities, offering medical, surgical, pediatric and obstetric care, and is affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
The hospital is part of a network with 15 locations and more than 150 physicians, and officials said they identified suspicious activity within a portion of their network and activated incident response procedures. They moved to downtime procedures to protect patient care and safety, though they have not confirmed a ransomware attack and no group has claimed responsibility. It is also unclear whether any sensitive data was stolen, and officials did not provide further details on the attackers’ motives. The report of the incident appeared on 8 April 2026.
