VISA has announced plans to acquire BioCatch, a fraud prevention company, for $2.4 billion in cash. BioCatch, founded in 2011, specializes in behavioral biometrics technology that employs AI and machine learning to differentiate between genuine customers and fraudsters in real-time. Their technology, which examines various user signals such as keystrokes and mouse movements, aims to prevent financial crimes before transactions are finalized.

BioCatch operates globally, protecting over 760 million users and analyzing 19 billion banking sessions monthly across 1.8 billion devices. This acquisition aligns with Visa's strategy to enhance its cybersecurity capabilities, following similar moves by other payment firms like Mastercard. The deal, which will integrate BioCatch’s services into Visa's existing security offerings, is subject to regulatory approval and expected to finalize by the end of Visa's fiscal Q2 2027.
