THE Wake County Board of Elections is halting its use of a software vendor, ElectSure, following a reported potential cyberattack. Although no voting machines, ballots, voter registration records, or vote-counting systems appear to have been compromised, the incident may have exposed information regarding election workers.
The breach involved a hacker accessing a secret password related to the training and registration of approximately 9,000 election workers, though it is not confirmed if any sensitive data was actually stolen. The situation is still under investigation.
