Biomemory launches DNA Shield to preserve critical data in synthetic DNA

BIOMEMORY has unveiled DNA Shield, its first commercial product built on its Molecular IT platform. The offline, offline-held service provides a sovereign layer for critical assets—such as cryptographic keys, proprietary industrial knowledge, regulated records and institutional memory—insured against evolving risks from AI and quantum computing.

DNA Shield begins with an Early Access Program and is designed so that material is onboarded, encrypted and encoded into synthetic DNA before being stored under managed custody, with recovery triggered through a controlled process rather than via routine self-service access. This marks Biomemory’s shift from research demonstrations toward a fully deployed offering intended to remain verifiable and recoverable over years or decades, independent of current systems and networks.

The product launch follows a year of consolidation for Biomemory. In March 2026 the company acquired the assets of Catalog Technologies, expanding its production and research footprint to Boston while keeping Paris as its headquarters, and broadening its intellectual property position. Laurent Guengant was appointed CEO in July 2026, bringing decades of experience in storage, telecoms and energy to steer Biomemory toward industrialisation and commercial deployment.

Initial use cases for DNA Shield include key custody continuity to ensure cryptographic key recovery years after personnel and vendors have changed, offline copies of crown jewel industrial IP, regulated integrity records that prove records haven’t been altered since approval, and a sovereign memory for records that must endure beyond the life of current systems.
