Three-quarters of Ransomware Attacks Target Mid-Market Firms

A study by Black Kite revealed that 73% of ransomware attacks in 2023 targeted mid-sized firms with revenues between $10 million and $1 billion. The report analyzed over 13,000 incidents and highlighted that manufacturing companies were the most affected sector, comprising 26% of victims. Key findings included critical security deficiencies among affected organizations, such as vulnerabilities and inadequate patch management, making them attractive targets for cybercriminals. North America accounted for 72% of these incidents, with a pronounced increase in attacks reported.
