The company simultaneously reduced privileges for the existing $200 Pro plan: in Codex and Work, usage quotas would be halved, dropping from 20x to 10x compared with Plus; and in ChatGPT, the weekly message limit for GPT-6 Pro would be cut from 200 to 100 messages. Official statements noted that current subscribers would retain their original limits temporarily, with a one‑time credit as transitional compensation.
Alongside Pro 500, OpenAI introduced Dots, an autonomous personal AI assistant available to all Pro tier and above subscribers, with conversations exempt from standard ChatGPT usage constraints. The company also announced a new authentication approach, “Sign in with ChatGPT,” and began initial partnerships with 16 enterprise clients, enabling users to access OpenAI computing power in third‑party platforms by authenticating with their ChatGPT credentials rather than managing API keys.
In the product tiering drive, OpenAI positioned Pro 500 as the velocity-focused option (noting an Ultrafast mode that enables Codex and Work to generate up to 300 tokens per second), while signalling broader integration plans for GPT‑6.1 Sol. The Sol variant is described as approaching flagship performance at a fifth of typical cost, with improved security and reliability for agentic tasks, and initial availability to premium Codex and Work users with anticipated broader ChatGPT deployment in due course.
