CLOUDFLARE marked its 16th birthday with a Week of announcements aimed at opening up the Internet for developers, agents and creators. Over five days—from 28 September to 2 October 2026—the company outlined 46 new or updated offerings across open source, security, developer tooling, data, economics and observability. The overarching message was that the Internet should become more open, secure and agentic, with tools that enable new businesses to flourish while keeping pace with AI-driven and post-quantum threats.
Highlights span several threads. Monday focused on open source and developer tooling, unveiling cf: the agentic CLI for the Cloudflare API, Forge for SDK/CLI/docs generation, EmDash as a WordPress successor with isolated plugin sandboxes, and wider open-source progress such as VoidZero and Vinext 1.0. Tuesday emphasised security for an AI-enabled era, including aims to become a public certificate authority and post-quantum cryptography work, alongside post-quantum visibility and adaptive WAF testing.
Wednesday and Thursday showcased the agent economy and the broader developer stack, with Pay Per Use, Monetization Gateway, Cloudflare K2, Basin, KV Instant, and new AI/edge tooling. The week closed on Friday with updates to Cloudflare Observability, Traces, and civil‑society initiatives. In total, the wrap‑up frames Birthday Week as a coordinated push to deliver faster, more accessible Internet infrastructure while expanding tools for developers, researchers and open‑source communities.
