AHOLD Delhaize reports it responded to a cyber incident by taking some systems offline to contain the issue, while emphasising that stores remained open and its ability to serve customers was not affected. The Belgian-Drench multinational said it was assessing and mitigating the security issue as part of its incident response, and apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers and partners.
Local reporting suggested the preventive actions affected deliveries and online orders at Albert Heijn and Delhaize brands in Belgium and the Netherlands, with US stores also appearing to be affected. The company did not confirm specifics about the breach, and SecurityWeek notes it was unclear whether this incident is linked to a separate refrigeration-controller attack that disrupted refrigerators and freezers across European supermarkets over the weekend.
The piece also recounts a history of prior incidents, including a 2024 cyberattack impacting Giant Food pharmacies and Hannaford supermarkets, and a 2025 data theft tied to ransomware, from which personal information of more than 2.2 million individuals was later disclosed. SecurityWeek said it had sought further information from Ahold Delhaize and would update the article if the company responded.
