IN July 2025, the Nova ransomware gang hacked Clinical Diagnostics, compromising cervical cancer screening data of 850,000 women. The lab paid an undisclosed ransom amount but faced further issues when the Dutch Health and Youth Care Inspectorate found it failed to meet data security standards. In response, the Women's Rights Collective is spearheading a mass lawsuit for compensation, affecting around 941,000 women, including others from associated medical practices.
The lawsuit targets Clinical Diagnostics, the Netherlands Population Screening Foundation, and the Ministry of Health, aiming to clarify data security failures and seek improvements in future protections.
