CLOUDFLARE has generally availableed Basin, its serverless data analytics platform that sits within the Cloudflare Developer Platform. Basin combines three products—Basin Pipelines, Basin Catalog and Basin SQL—built on Apache Iceberg and Cloudflare R2 Object Storage. Pipelines ingests events from HTTP, Workers bindings, or Logpush, applies SQL-driven transformations, and writes results as Iceberg tables or Parquet/JSON files in R2.

Basin Catalog manages Iceberg metadata, automating maintenance to keep tables fast and cost‑efficient, while Basin SQL provides a serverless, distributed engine for querying Iceberg data directly on Cloudflare.

The platform is designed to simplify end‑to‑end analytics: ingest data from apps, infrastructure, devices, and Cloudflare services, then run queries to derive insights. Basin emphasises speed, openness, and cost efficiency, with features such as fast onboarding of Catalogs, scalable ingestion (up to 3 GB/s per stream in production), and zero egress fees that enable data to be read and written by a range of Iceberg‑compatible engines (for example PyIceberg, DuckDB, Snowflake, and Apache Spark). In addition to free egress, Basin employs usage‑based pricing so customers are billed only when data is ingested, processed, or queried.

The suite is complemented by ongoing improvements and planned enhancements, including advanced partitioning, schema migrations, Iceberg V3 support, and more granular access controls. Cloudflare provides tutorials and documentation to help developers deploy Basin Pipelines, Catalog, and SQL as an integrated end‑to‑end platform, or to adopt individual components within existing architectures.
