THE Linux Foundation is set to launch Akrites, a platform designed to address vulnerabilities in critical open-source software amid rising AI-enabled cyber threats. Expected to go live in September, Akrites, supported by major industry players like OpenAI and Microsoft, seeks to establish a Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) and a coordinated vulnerability disclosure process.
The initiative will utilize advanced tools and big data capabilities for managing vulnerability reports, with an emphasis on open-sourcing the platform for public use. Christopher Robinson from OpenSSF leads the project, highlighting its ambition to enhance the security of the open-source ecosystem.
