ACCORDING to FBI, the LeakBase cybercrime forum was seized in a precision operation that dismantled a sophisticated marketplace aiding millions in fraudulent transactions, with the seizure representing a watershed moment in international cybercrime enforcement.
The data seized includes 142,000 member profiles, three years of transaction logs, and detailed communications between threat actors across 47 countries, providing unprecedented visibility into how criminal networks coordinate and monetise stolen credentials.
The forum operated as a criminal university, offering credential-stuffing tutorials, social-engineering playbooks, and Ransomware-as-a-Service partnerships, and discussions revealed planned attacks against critical infrastructure such as power grids and emergency services. Conservative estimates suggest LeakBase facilitated over $2.8 billion in cybercrime proceeds since 2022, with an escrow system processing numerous digitally monetised transactions and commissions of 3–8% per transaction.
The operation signals a shift in enforcement priorities toward disrupting infrastructure, though analysts warn remaining members may migrate to other platforms with enhanced operational security. Security teams are advised to cross-reference seized data against access logs and monitor dark web activity to identify emerging risks.
