THE Internet Society has launched the Online Trust and Safety Hub, a free, multilingual global resource designed to help people stay safer online. The Hub sits at the centre of the organisation’s Safer Internet Initiative and provides practical tools such as anti-scam guidance, educational videos, online courses, downloadable materials and curated resources, alongside Google’s Be Scam Ready game.

It is aimed at individual internet users, the Internet Society’s global community, chapters and trainers, as well as partner organisations and trusted networks.

Design and approach

The initiative emphasises that online safety is not solely the responsibility of individuals. Platforms, industry, governments and civil society are also expected to contribute to a safer online environment. The Hub’s resources have been developed with input from a broad community, including women-led organisations, displaced populations, Indigenous communities and newly connected users, and are available free of charge. Dr.

Joseph Lorenzo Hall, Distinguished Technologist at the Internet Society, described the Hub as a practical, trustworthy one-stop resource to help people recognise risks and make informed decisions. The project has received support from Google[.]org, reflecting its global reach and focus on accessible safety guidance. Users can explore the Hub at onlinesafety.internetsociety[.]org.
