G 2A[.]COM, a digital marketplace used by more than 35 million customers across 180 countries, has reported a 35% year-on-year rise in orders for antivirus and other security software. The data, released during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, shows that security software accounted for 43% of all cybersecurity-related orders on the platform, up from 39% in the same period in 2025.

While VPNs remain the larger category, antivirus and related software are gaining share as consumers seek broader protection for devices, accounts and digital activity.

The publication of the figures is paired with context from ENISA’s Threat Landscape 2026, which flags ransomware as the most impactful short‑term threat and highlights the ongoing prevalence of social engineering. G2A[.]COM representatives argue that protection is increasingly about layered safeguards working in concert rather than a single product.

Evidence cited includes a Trust in Digital Commerce report (authored with Juniper Research) based on a 9,000-person survey across nine countries, which finds that half of respondents view e‑commerce sites as primarily responsible for security. In response, G2A[.]COM notes it enforces robust buyer/seller verification (KYC/KYB/AML) and uses AI‑driven fraud prevention and continuous monitoring.

The piece also offers practical guidance for consumers during the month, emphasising strong passwords, MFA, timely updates, cautious handling of unexpected requests, and ensuring clarity on what protection a product provides.
