MILLIONS of crime tips may have been exposed after a hacker group claimed to have compromised systems used by Crime Stoppers programmes and other organisations worldwide. The incident centres on P3 Global Intel, a Texas-based provider of cloud-based tip and intelligence management software owned by Navigate360. The hacktivists, known as “Internet Yiff Machine,” submitted the stolen data to according to SAN, which said the cache contains more than 8.3 million records dating from as far back as 1987 up to 2025.

The dataset is said to include tips submitted through Crime Stoppers programmes, law enforcement agencies, schools and parts of the US federal government, with some tipsters’ personal details apparently visible despite assurances of anonymity. Navigate360 has not confirmed a breach and says an external forensics provider is examining a possible network incident, with P3 systems still reportedly operational.

Law enforcement reactions vary, with the Portland Police Bureau advising residents to refrain from submitting tips through the Crime Stoppers platform while the review continues.
