UK NCSC unveils SilentGlass to stop malicious HDMI attacks

THE UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has unveiled SilentGlass, a plug‑and‑play device designed to actively block anything unexpected or malicious between HDMI or display port connections and monitor screens, approved for use in high‑threat cybersecurity environments. SilentGlass was launched on 22 April 2026 at CYBERUK, the UK government’s flagship cybersecurity conference. It has already been deployed on government estates and is now available for anyone to buy and use.

The NCSC has partnered with Goldilock Labs and Sony UK to manufacture and sell SilentGlass globally, with Goldilock Labs described as a UK‑based small business and the contract license awarded after a competitive process. Officials say the device addresses a security gap by treating hardware interfaces as security boundaries exposed to supply chains, third‑party servicing and physical access.

CYBERUK 26 in Glasgow, where the launch took place, is part of the broader push to accelerate adoption of the technology among governments and risk‑conscious organisations.
