AN 18-year-old man was arrested in Tokyo for his alleged role in a cyberattack on the Kaikatsu Club internet cafe, using a program developed by a younger teen leveraging ChatGPT. The arrest was made by the Metropolitan Police Department for offenses including fraudulent obstruction of business and unauthorized computer access, with the suspect denying parts of the charges. This incident marks a second case within a week involving minors utilizing ChatGPT for cybercrimes in Japan.

A 15-year-old was arrested earlier for exploiting a vulnerability in the Bandai Channel streaming service, resulting in the fraudulent cancellation of nearly 47,000 accounts. Both arrested teens were reportedly pursuing programming from a young age.
