THE National Crime Agency (NCA) has launched a campaign to warn parents about the risks of oversharing images and videos of their children online. This warning follows a staggering 26,000% increase in AI-generated child sexual abuse imagery reported by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). A social media campaign will provide parents with guidance on image consent and safety measures.
Parents are advised to reassess their image-sharing practices, considering the potential misuse of shared content and the manipulation by criminals. The IWF has highlighted specific incidents of criminal gangs exploiting school images to create abusive material. The report stresses the importance of open communication with children about these risks and suggests immediate action steps for safeguarding their privacy.
