THE average cost of cyber insurance claims in the US increased significantly in 2025, despite a decrease in the volume of claims, as reported by Chubb's 2026 Cyber Claims Report. Middle-market firms saw a 22% rise in claim costs, while large companies experienced a staggering 100% increase. In the UK and Europe, similarly, although the number of claims fell, the costs per claim rose, with middle-market firms seeing a 34% increase.

Additionally, the report highlights the added burdens imposed by new privacy legislation in the US and EU, which complicate obligations for companies handling personal data, and notes that rising litigation costs, particularly from ransomware attacks, contribute to the overall severity of claims.
