MICROSOFT has confirmed that the Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line (WMIC) utility will no longer be included by default in new installations of Windows 11, starting with the August update for versions 24H2 and 25H2. Although existing installations will retain WMIC, users can still manually restore it if needed. The removal is primarily driven by security concerns, as WMIC has been exploited by malware to access system information and disable security features.

Microsoft encourages users to transition to modern alternatives like PowerShell and the .NET framework for their management tasks. The core Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) framework will remain available in the system.
