EUROPOL has announced the disruption of two notorious infostealer malware strains, StealC and Amadey, as part of Operation Endgame. Co-led by Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office, the operation seized around 50 domains and nearly 200 active command-and-control servers associated with these malware types, which have been linked to over 140,000 infected computers globally in May 2026.
Microsoft's Digital Crimes Unit played a crucial role, utilizing AI to analyze malware and improve the efficiency of the takedown process, which also involved the freezing of €41 million in criminal crypto assets and the recovery of 27 million stolen login credentials. The operation marked a significant blow against cybercrime by targeting the supply chains used by these infostealers.
