THE Trump administration has lifted restrictions on Anthropic's AI models, Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, after earlier bans related to cybersecurity concerns. The Commerce Department had blocked foreign nationals from accessing these models due to vulnerabilities identified by Amazon researchers. Anthropic noted that these AI models are capable of identifying software flaws, which raised alarms about potential exploitation by malicious actors.

The company has now restored access to these models for select U.S.-based organizations approved by the federal government. Similarly, OpenAI's new model, GPT-5.6 Sol, will also be limited to government-approved customers temporarily, following an executive order from President Trump mandating a review of the national security risks of advanced AI systems.
