The breach was attributed to unauthorized access to an email system linked to these ISPs, exposing email addresses and passwords. KDDI detected the intrusion on June 17 and has since implemented preventive measures, advised customers to change their passwords, and is collaborating with affected ISPs and authorities to address the incident.
