BASIC-FIT has disclosed a data breach affecting around 1 million members, with intruders gaining unauthorised access to the company’s systems and downloading some data. Exposed information includes names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, dates of birth and bank details, while Basic-Fit says no identification documents or passwords were accessed. External experts are assisting with the investigation, which found that about 200,000 Dutch members are among those affected.
The company says the unauthorised access was detected by its monitoring processes and stopped within minutes of discovery, and that affected members have been informed. There is no evidence yet of data being misused or made publicly available, and Basic-Fit continues to monitor the situation closely. The breach was disclosed in a press release by the company, and Basic-Fit is one of Europe’s largest fitness operators with over 5 million members and more than 1,600 clubs across six countries. 14 April 2026.
