NEW York State has announced more than $9 million in funding to assist 153 drinking water and wastewater systems in enhancing their cybersecurity measures. This initiative, part of the SECURE grant program, aims to bolster defenses against growing cyber threats, particularly following recent attacks on water infrastructure across the U.S.

The funding will support cybersecurity assessments and improvements at local utilities, alongside free technical assistance from the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation. Utilities can receive up to $50,000 for assessments and $100,000 for security upgrades, with a focus on compliance with new cybersecurity standards established in March.
