OPENAI has unveiled GPT-5.6 Sol, a new advanced model in its GPT-5 series, specifically tailored for cybersecurity tasks. Access is currently limited to selected partners, a decision influenced by the US government. The new model is described as the most capable yet for cybersecurity, improving vulnerability research and exploitation. Although it performs well in testing, it doesn’t produce full exploits autonomously.
OpenAI emphasizes that the limited rollout is a temporary measure, intending to broaden access soon while ensuring robust safeguards against misuse. The pricing structure for the model includes different tiers, with Sol costing $5 per million input tokens and $30 per million output tokens.
