THE medical records of a young boy who was attacked by a crocodile at a Cambridgeshire zoo were accessed by around 40 staff members at Addenbrookes’ Hospital. Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) is investigating the reasons for these accesses and has referred the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). MP Pippa Heylings criticized the situation, emphasizing that it highlights insufficient patient data protection, particularly in light of recent breaches at NHS trusts. While some accesses might have been legitimate, concerns remain regarding unauthorized inquiries by employees.
