RECENT cybersecurity threats revealed over 55 fake shop campaigns targeting consumers in 12 European countries, with the perpetrators impersonating well-known brands like Samsung and Adidas. These campaigns, which operated between March and May 2026, utilized tactics such as social media ads and phishing attempts to lure victims into purchasing counterfeit goods.
The scams are sophisticated, often using localized messaging and mimicking professional e-commerce sites to trick users into divulging personal and payment information. Security experts suspect multiple cybercriminal networks are behind these activities but have not made any arrests yet. To combat these scams, consumers are advised to verify website legitimacy and use safer payment methods.
