MALWAREBYTES has announced two new features for its Browser Guard extension: Search Reputation and Scam Guard Lite. Search Reputation displays a rating beside results on Google, DuckDuckGo, Brave and Bing. A green “Good” label means the site appears safe according to Malwarebytes’ reputation database, while a red “Malicious” label indicates that Malwarebytes has identified it as unsafe.
The company cautions that a “Good” rating is not a guarantee, because new malicious sites may not yet be recorded; Browser Guard continues checking pages and may still issue a warning or block access.
Scam Guard Lite is available through the Browser Guard extension on Google Chrome and analyses the webpage currently open for signs of a scam, without requiring users to copy a link, take a screenshot or leave the page. The first use downloads Gemini to the device, and Malwarebytes says the analysis runs locally using a large language model, with browsing history neither saved nor sent to an AI cloud. Users with further concerns can open the full Scam Guard dashboard to review suspicious emails and links or ask questions about online content.
