ACCORDING to The Bangkok Post, the Council of Engineers Thailand warned that about 350,000 of its members had personal data stolen when the council’s database was hacked during a transfer between servers. The post notes there were 680,000 data breaches over about 10 hours, with the data of about 350,000 members stolen, including names, addresses, phone numbers and licence levels. The breach was detected after circulation of the information and there has been no confirmed ransom demand publicised.
A check of ransomlook[.]io does not show an attack claimed on the Council of Engineers, and if the breach was detected on 17 April, threat actors may still be giving the council time to negotiate or respond, if there has even been any contact attempt. There has been no explanation of why it occurred over 10 hours and 680,000 accesses or attacks before detection, according to the report.
