Lower Merion School District says a data breach was caused by a computer glitch

LOWER Merion School District blamed a computer glitch after confidential material was shared online, with the district saying it posted the information on a password‑protected BoardDocs section but that people were still able to access the private documents. The district said it could not confirm which documents were accessible, for how long, or who may have seen them. The incident prompted the district to remove all confidential documents from BoardDocs.

DataBreaches understands that Diligent, the company behind BoardDocs, has sent out letters to affected clients, and DataBreaches has asked BoardDocs for comment. The district first learned of the breach on 10 April 2025 when contacted by a litigant in a legal proceeding unrelated to the breach, and the leaked documents included attorney‑client privileged legal memos, confidential employee information and issues involving students identified by initials.

The update notes that a fuller explanation of the breach involving BoardDocs was reported elsewhere, but DataBreaches will continue to seek comment. according to CBS Philadelphia
