Google and Apple roll out emergency security updates after zero-day attacks

On 12 December 2025, Google and Apple rolled out emergency security updates after a zero-day attack targeted an unknown number of their users. Google released patches for a handful of security bugs in its Chrome browser, noting that one of the bugs was being actively exploited before a patch was available. Unusually for Google, the company gave no further details at the time, but later updates specified that the bug was discovered by Apple’s security engineering team and Google’s Threat Analysis Group.

This collaboration suggests the hacking campaign may have been orchestrated by government-backed hackers, a claim described in reference to mercenary spyware makers. Read more about the developments at TechCrunch. According to TechCrunch.
