Singapore says China-backed hackers targeted its four largest phone companies

SINGAPORE’S government has blamed a known Chinese cyber-espionage group for targeting four of its top telecommunication companies as part of a months-long attack, according to a statement on 10 February 2026. The targeted firms were Singtel, StarHub, M1 and Simba Telecom, with the intruders able to breach and access some systems but not disrupt services or access personal information.

The attackers are linked to the activity of UNC3886, a group Google-owned cybersecurity unit Mandiant has previously associated with espionage work on behalf of China, according to Mandiant. The government noted that this was the first time Singapore publicly confirmed the four companies as targets in this campaign. For further detail, the report points readers to TechCrunch, which covered the development. According to CSA.gov[.]sg, the authorities inserted measures in response after identifying the multi-agency cyber operation.
