Meta Launches ‘Vibes’: A New AI-Generated Short-Video Platform to Rival TikTok

Meta has unveiled Vibes, a new AI-generated short-video platform described as a “pure AI” creative ecosystem. Debuting first in North America, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and select European markets, the service aims to carve out a dedicated stage for AI-driven entertainment.

Users provide a text prompt and the system instantly produces a video ready to be shared for others to watch, remix, or reuse, with a feature called “Mix” that lets people rework an existing AI-generated video to create variations. Meta argues this approach keeps Facebook and Instagram from being overwhelmed by synthetic content while offering AI its own space.

The move signals Meta’s ambition to shift AI from a supporting role to a central entertainment and creative experience built around machine intelligence, and it raises questions about authenticity, originality, and copyright boundaries in AI-generated content. If Vibes scales quickly and builds a rich library of content, it could mark a significant breakthrough in short-form video for the company.
