Qualcomm Launches Dragonwing IQ-X: Oryon CPU Brings 45 TOPS Edge AI to Factory PCs

According to Qualcomm, the Dragonwing IQ-X is the first processor lineup designed for industrial PCs, built on the company’s Oryon CPU architecture and delivering up to 45 TOPS of AI computing power for on-device edge workloads. The processors are manufactured on a 4nm process and offer a scalable configuration of 8 to 12 high-performance cores, with an integrated NPU providing up to 45 TOPS of AI throughput for applications such as predictive maintenance and defect detection.

The platform supports Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC and middleware tools including Qt, CODESYS, and EtherCAT, and aligns with standard COM form factors to enable drop-in replacement for existing carrier boards while reducing BOM costs. The Dragonwing IQ-X series is designed for harsh industrial environments, with a temperature range from –40°C to 105°C and ruggedised packaging.

Qualcomm notes that multiple leading global OEMs have adopted the series, including Advantech, NEXCOM, Portwell, Congatec, Kontron, Tria, and SECO, with commercial devices expected to roll out over the coming months.
