Sedgwick Confirms Cyberattack on Government Subsidiary
Sedgwick has confirmed a cyberattack at its government-facing subsidiary, Sedgwick Government Solutions, after a ransomware group claimed it hacked the unit. According to SecurityWeek, the third-party administrator serves US government agencies, including the DHS, CISA and municipalities nationwide. The company said the incident affected an isolated file transfer system and did not compromise its network or Sedgwick Government Solutions’ broader systems.
Sedgwick added that Sedgwick Government Solutions is segmented from the rest of its business and there was no evidence of access to claims management servers or wider data being affected. On New Year’s Eve, the TridentLocker ransomware group boasted about stealing roughly 3.4 gigabytes of data from Sedgwick Government Solutions, though Sedgwick has not commented on those claims.
