ACCORDING to TASS, police have detained a Taganrog resident suspected of administering LeakBase, described as one of the largest international hacker platforms. The detained man is suspected of administering "one of the largest international hacker platforms, LeakBase," the agency stated. The liquidated platform operated a credit system and user rating system, which supported the activity of the cybercriminal community. As previously reported, LeakBase was seized on 4 March.
On 5 March, @Shumanov of TriTrace Investigations identified the 33-year-old Artem Kuchumov as "Chucky" based on their investigation. It is rare for a Russian cybercriminal to be arrested in Russia, and Chucky had a policy of not leaking or selling any data from Russia on LeakBase, so it is not yet clear why he was arrested; law enforcement has not confirmed his identity at this point.
