Qualcomm & BMW Partner to Revolutionize Autonomous Driving
On 7 September 2025, Qualcomm and BMW announced a landmark collaboration to bring the Snapdragon Ride AD software stack to the all-new BMW iX3 and the Neue Klasse lineup, following three years of joint work by more than 1,400 engineers and experts across Germany, the United States, Sweden, Romania, and the Czech Republic.
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon Ride automotive platform is already in partnership with more than twenty global automakers, including BMW itself, and the new stack integrates its perception systems with BMW’s jointly developed driving strategy engine to offer a flexible, scalable, and cost-efficient solution.
The BMW iX3 will be the first model to feature Snapdragon Ride Pilot, powered by a computing platform twenty times more powerful than its predecessor, combined with BMW’s central “Superbrain” architecture to unify cameras, radar, HD maps and GNSS geolocation for a highly reliable autonomous driving experience. Real-world features highlighted include Smart Lane Change, Highway Assist and AI Parking Assist, with the iX3 also incorporating Qualcomm’s V2X 200 chipset to enable vehicle-to-everything communications.
The partnership aims to accelerate testing, updating and safe deployment of autonomous driving technologies across BMW’s Neue Klasse models, signalling a new era of smarter, safer mobility.
