GERMANY’S national rail operator Deutsche Bahn was hit by a large-scale DDoS attack that disrupted information and booking systems for several hours, according to SecurityAffairs. The attack began on 17 February and extended into 18 February, shutting down the company’s IT systems, bahn[.]de and DB Navigator. Deutsche Bahn reported disruptions to its information and booking systems, with delays and service interruptions as a result.

The firm said its IT experts were analysing the cause and working to resolve the issue, and that the information and booking systems had been largely stable again since the evening. It remains unclear who was behind the attack or what their motivation may have been, though past incidents in Europe have involved pro-Russian hacktivists such as Killnet and NoName057(16).
