Pro-Russian hackers target Belgian telecom websites in DDoS attack

According to Belgian News Agency, a DDoS briefly disrupted the websites of Belgian telecom operators Proximus and Scarlet on 6 November 2025, with the pro-Russian hacker group NoName057 claiming responsibility via Telegram and Ghent University Hospital also hit around the same time.

Proximus spokesperson Fabrice Gansbeke confirmed that technicians detected unusual traffic around 7:20 and began countermeasures, adding that from 7:30 there was a sharp increase in traffic and the impact was very limited as their systems held up. At 8:53, NoName057 posted a message boasting of attacks against the websites of Scarlet and Proximus and an internal Telenet portal, though Telenet spokesperson Stefan Coenjaerts denied the claim, saying our systems were not hacked and no websites went offline.

The report notes that such a DDoS attack floods a site with traffic to render it temporarily inaccessible and does not involve user data.
